DIET Mantra
IMPORTANT NOTES :-

  • Please take 4 to 6 time 1/4 – 1/2 meals rather then taking full 2 times meal.
  • Leave the last bite of your every meal.
  • Eat plenty of Vegetables.
  • Drink plenty of water.
  • Spice any gravy with less oil but more of ginger, onion, garlic, cinnamon, coriander.

BREAKFAST :-  Should  be ¼  of your Meal

  • 1 cup of vegetable juice ( Drumstick juice, Spinach juice, Pomegranate juice )
  • Fruits ( watermelon, papaya, muskmelon, Apple , peer , Plumps ) moderate any one fruit daily.
  • Sprouted beans ( fang vela mug , Math , Soybean ).
  • 1 cup skimmed milk with low fat serials.
  • Oats, Figs, Walnut

LUNCH :-

  • ½ cup strained soup
  • 2 Whole wheat chapaties
  • ½ cup cauliflower bhaji
  • ½ cup cooked Bhindi (For Taste only)
  • ½ cup tur dal ( thick)
  • ½ cup dahi ( skimmed milk)
  • Salad from Free foods List (Latuce , Cabbage, Carrot(As Much As you can) Onions, Mushrooms, Broccoli, Cucumber, Tomato (4 to 5 pieces only)
  • 1 ½ teaspoon oil/ghee for cooking
  • Please use low fat oil or Olive oil for Cooking
  • Avoid Junk food , Frozen food , Packaged food , Stale Food

BRUNCH :-

  • ½ cup Poha
  • 1 ¼ cup cubed water melon
  • 1 cup tea/coffee with little milk ( no sugar)

DINNER :-

  • 2 bajri chapaties
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • ½ cup fenugreek (methi) bhaji
  • ½ cup ( cluster beans) gawar bhaji
  • 1 cup urad dal ( thin watery)
  • ½ cup dahi ( skimmed milk base)
  • Salad from Free Food List
  • 1 ½ teaspoon oil/ghee for cooking .

Food to avoid :-

These should not be usually consumed. However, to avoid craving and a monotonous daily diet, you can take these once in a while.
  • Coconut in cooking.
  • Deep fried dishes like puri, paratha, samosa, vada, bajji, etc.
  • Vegetables like potato, sweet potato, beetroot, yam, arbi, etc.
  • All nuts and dried fruits like peanuts, almonds, cashewnuts, etc.
  • Sweets, cakes, pastries, ice creams, jam, jelly, marmalade and soft drinks.
  • Beer and sweet wines.
  • Fruits like grapes, mango, chiku and sugarcane.
  • Use only unsaturated oils, like saffola, sunflower, olive oil etc.

Free foods :-

If a diabetic feels hungry even after eating his/her permissible quota, the person may consume low calorie food called free foods. These give a feeling of fullness.

  • Fresh salads made of cabbage, onion, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, radish and capsicum with only lime, salt, pepper or chat masala. Do not add any salad dressing like mayonnaise, olive oil etc.
  • Black tea or coffee without sugar.
  • Lemon juice without sugar.
  • Clear soups and rasam without butter or oil.
